In our effort to promote healthy communities and protection and enhancement of community resources, Delaware Greenways engages in advocacy and the area of public policy. Our work in these areas are guided by our mission and driven by the project work that we are currently conducting.

Recent advocacy activities include:

  • Participating in the New Castle County Comprehensive Plan update process to foster responsible development with an emphasis on preserving and enhancing the Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway corridor.
  • Promoting the connection between land use and transportation by working with the Delaware Department of Transportation and New Castle County to improve coordination in the development review process.
  • Working with the Delaware Department of Transportation and other Byway partners to promote context sensitive solutions for transportation and land use design in Delaware’s byway corridors.
  • Advocating for trail/greenway development throughout the state.
