Delaware Freedom Ride Returns!

2026 Includes America's 250th in the Celebration

The Delaware Freedom Ride is returning on Saturday, June 13th! Riders will gather at 9:30am outside the New Castle Court House Museum in the center of town. The ride is free, but registration is required.

Delaware Greenways and Urban Bike Project will lead this powerful 15-mile bicycle ride retracing the path of freedom along a portion of the Underground Railroad. Riders will travel the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway via the Jack A. Markell Trail while honoring the courage, resilience, and legacy of those who journeyed toward liberation.

This year’s ride coincides with Wilmington’s Juneteenth celebrations and Historic New Castle’s 250th Separation Day festivities, creating a unique opportunity to experience multiple chapters of American history in a single day.
