Brandywine Creek Greenway

The Brandywine Creek Greenway (BCG) is a regional planning initiative of the Brandywine Conservancy in partnership with municipalities and non-profit organizations, that are active in the Chester Valley region of Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Brandywine Heritage Trail

The Brandywine Heritage Trail project completes an east-west paved trail from the end of the Brandywine Park at Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware to Brandywine Creek State Park and the First State National Historical Park that extends into Pennsylvania.

Claymont to Fox Point State Park and NDGT

The Claymont to Fox Point State Park/Northern Delaware Greenway Trail, a component of the Governor Printz Blvd Corridor Study, is a significant addition to the growing trail network in Delaware. The trail will also serve as a section of both the East Coast Greenway and the 9-11 National Memorial Trail.

Commons Blvd Trail

This pathway will provide a connection from the Markell Trail at the I-295 tunnel to the Churchmans Road Pathway, providing direct pathway access for the numerous residential, commercial, office and institutional business employees, including 10,000 employees at the Corporate Commons employment center.

Newport River Trail

The connection of the Jack A. Markell Trail to the Town of Newport will give non-motorized transportation access to highly populated areas in New Castle County including the Town of Newport to the Riverfront in Wilmington and Historic New Castle.

The Wilmington Loop connects many under-resourced communities in Wilmington with other areas of the city, schools, and the numerous scientific institutions that surround the city.

Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway Management

The Brandywine Valley National Scenic Byway enhancements envision a best-in-class experience encompassing the historic, cultural, and scenic qualities of this legacy landscape.

Vibrant, pedestrian-friendly villages and urban areas are integral parts of the landscape. The enhancements will develop incentives to encourage private conservation and preservation actions.

Delaware Bayshore Byway Management

A collaborative and intensive effort with Delaware Greenways and their partners is underway to assess the resources along the state byway and ensure they are communicated to the public.  Goals include:

  • Implementing the strategic direction plans which incorporates a vision, mission, goals, and specific strategies.
  • Working with DelDOT to sign the Byway with signs guiding visitors to venues along its more than 100 mile length.
  • Gaining designation as an All American Road.

Historic Lewes Byway Management

Delaware Greenways’ stewardship of the Historic Lewes Byway, Gateway to the Bayshore is a commitment to the projects and programs outlined in comprehensive enhancement plans. As the route’s guiding principles, these plans provide a framework for:

  • Preservation of its natural resources and historic quality.
  • Expanding tourism through promotion of the byway’s intrinsic resources.
  • Positively impacting economic growth.
