FSTC Trail Amenity Grant Recipients Announced

First State Trails Coalition* is pleased to announce the recipients of the Trails Amenity Grant!

Trail users want more than trails. Having different amenities goes a long way to create a trail friendly atmosphere and increase the popularity of trails. Thanks to funding from the William Penn Foundation, the following FST Coalition members will be installing trail amenities this year for all to enjoy.

Bike Newark

  • Grant: $2,500
  • Newark Bikeways Wayfinding Project – Phase 2
  • Phase 2 of larger Newark Bikeways low-stress network project adds wayfinding signage along the Pomeroy Trail to/from downtown Newark, and will help link to the already signed Central Loop Bikeway.

Delaware Center for Horticulture

  • Grant: $2,500
  • Amenities to support main location in Trolley Square
  • Grant in conjunction with larger garden renovation project transforming ornamental and natural gardens surrounding the facility to resilient and open ones, providing outdoor spaces for a variety of activities and experiences.
  • 4 Bike Racks, 1 Fix-It Station and Sign
  • DCH will provide an information message board with matching funds.

Riverfront Development Corporation

  • Grant: $2,500
  • Amenities added to Riverwalk
  • 2 Bike Racks, 1 Fix-it Station, 5 Trash Cans to be purchased with grant funding.
