Protecting the places we love. Connecting the future we share.

Delaware Greenways’ mission is to collaboratively develop and promote networks of trails, pathways and scenic road corridors that welcome all people and communities.

Our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization has helped shape, promote, preserve, and enhance Delaware’s trails and scenic road corridors through dedicated volunteers and strong community partnerships. Every trail experience, new connection, restored resource, and shared success reflects what people can accomplish together for a healthier future.

We’re proud to have played a leadership role in the creation of many beloved trail connections and remain committed to promoting these trails and many others, including the Jack A. Markell Trail, the Northern Delaware Greenways Trail, the Junction Breakwater and Gordons Pond Trails, and the Michael N. Castle Trail.

Along the 100-mile Delaware Bayshore Byway, Delaware Greenways is helping more people discover safe, enjoyable ways to travel, explore, and connect. This work invites volunteers to help open new possibilities for recreation, stewardship, and community connection.

Our work is done collaboratively and in partnership with individuals, communities, organizations, and government agencies.

Current initiatives include:

  • Promoting trail usage for healthier lifestyles, cultural awareness, and transportation.
  • Developing new, safe bike and pedestrian routes, along with safety enhancements and amenity upgrades that improve user experiences.
  • Identifying and promoting safe paddling routes along the Delaware Bayshore.
  • Creating more connected trail networks.

Every day we’re working toward making outdoor connections more welcoming, accessible, and sustainable for communities across the state. Consider supporting our work as a volunteer! Learn more.

Diversity and Inclusion

As we promote the State’s trails, pathways, and byways, we are strengthened by diverse and inclusive thinking that can only come through different faces and life experiences. Delaware Greenways will take intentional action in conducting its business to create and support projects, activities, funding, partnerships, staff, and collaborations that will enrich the diverse communities we seek to serve.
