Bancroft Mills Bridge Update Meeting

On February 10th, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm learn the path forward for this important trail connector.

On Thursday, February 10th a virtual presentation will be given by the Division of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and Greenman-Pederson, Inc. (GPI), the engineering firm contracted for the study, which will provide an update on the status of the Bancroft Mills Pedestrian Bridge in Wilmington. The bridge has been closed since early September 2021, when it sustained structural damage from the remnants of Hurricane Ida (see above).

In crossing the Brandywine Creek at its location in Alapocas Run State Park, the bridge has connected residents, commuters and visitors to the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail, which winds 10 miles northeast to Bellevue State Park, and southeast toward the City of Wilmington, for many years.

Attend this meeting (link below) to learn of the findings and recommendations for the damaged bridge, which will determine the path forward for this important connection site to the trail and park.

Read more on the trail and the backstory of the bridge’s condition.
