The Delaware Bayshore Byway will benefit from the Federal Highway Administration’s National Scenic Byways Program grant in the amount of $913,420. Federal funding through the Program had been unavailable to byways across the country since 2012!
Our Delaware Greenways team put their full resources into writing the grant in collaboration with the DBB Management Committee, a smart and talented group of volunteers, and DelDOT. It is a huge deal for our state DOT to receive this funding for the byway!
As written in our application:
“This project will improve, increase, and broaden the use of non-motorized travel and recreation options along the Delaware Bayshore Byway, a National Scenic Byway. The first objective is to complete a combined Master Plan, including a Bicycle/Pedestrian Plan and Waterways/Paddling Plan, that will augment the existing Corridor Management Plan. The second objective is to enhance visitor amenities (restrooms and wayfinding) at two Byway communities: the Town of Bowers and the City of Milford.”
