Millcreek Neighbors for Safer Pathways Celebrate Installation

Thanks to the efforts of the community group Millcreek Neighbors for Safer Pathways, a new 4-way crosswalk with pedestrian signals, has been installed at Rt 41/Newport Gap Pike and Millcreek/Hercules roads.  DelDOT teams, legislators and Delaware Greenways were there to celebrate this important accomplishment.

Millcreek Neighbors for Safer Pathways represents the interests of approximately 1,500 households who are crippled by the inability to safely cross Rt. 41(Newport Gap Pike) between McKennan’s Church Road and Faulkland Road.
 
They have two main goals:
 
  • Improved Pedestrian and Cyclist Connectivity: Paths that connect our neighborhoods to county parks; swimming and recreation areas; public schools; major places of worship; and existing Greater Wilmington Greenways.

  • Improved Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety: Off-road biking and walking trails that connect to existing paths or sidewalks. Bridges, tunnels, pedestrian-activated signals or automated traffic lights that enable crossing roadways with traffic speeds over 30 MPH.
