Delaware Awarded $44 Million RAISE Grant for Trail Development
Delaware is receiving RAISE grants to support trail improvements that are pivotal for outdoor connections in New Castle and Sussex Counties!
Delaware Greenways loves the opportunity bicycle rental kiosks provide for visitors and residents along the Jack Markell Trail, and others. A missing item, providing a layer of safety however, are helmets. So we brought together three local organizations to help us launch the Markell Trail Helmet Loan Program: the Greater Wilmington Convention & Visitors Bureau, DuPont Environmental Education Center and the Delaware Cultural & Historical Affairs.
Bicyclists now have access, free of charge, to children and adult helmets from three locations in close proximity to Fin Outdoor Recreation bicycle rental kiosks. Two can be found along the Wilmington Riverfront and another, in Historic New Castle’s Battery Park.
How do you borrow a helmet? Find out HERE. The Markell Trail Helmet Loan Program is possible thanks to grant funding from the William Penn Foundation.
