From the first time the idea of a trail connecting the Jack A. Markell Trail to Churchman’s Road connecting neighborhoods and businesses along the way was developed, Delaware Greenways was excited to not just support but financially participate in this trail project as a co-funder and key partner.
We view this trail as a means to connect residents and employees who live and work within walking distance and many thousands more who live and work within biking distance of the trail. This trail will provide direct access to the Russell Petersen Wildlife Area, Wilmington’s Riverfront, and provide two connections to the East Coast Greenway. And, we hope soon, it will provide a connection for pedestrians and bicyclists to the Christiana Mall and Christiana Hospital complex. These trail connections are a central focus of the mission of Delaware Greenways to connect everyone to where they want to go.
