Wilmington Loop
The proposed Wilmington Loop Project would create a continuous community
This project is part of New Castle County’s Connecting Communities Initiative. Proposed is a 2-mile paved trail as a key connection between the Town of Newport and the Jack A. Markell (JAM) Trail. The trail would run along the north bank of the Christina River from South James Street to the JAM Trail, provide a low-stress alternative for bicyclists and pedestrians traveling to and from Newport and Wilmington, and offer important safety, health, and economic benefits to County residents. The trail also extends connectivity to the proposed Wilmington Loop and to the multi-state East Coast Greenway trail system.
An online public survey will also be available starting May 9 on the project website, www.newcastlede.gov/2366/Newport-River-Trail. Visit the site for additional project information.
