TRAFFIC ALERT: New Castle County – Route 9 (Delaware Bayshore Byway – DBB) and the Reedy Point Bridge to Close for Three Months Starting Friday, January 6th. [NOTE: This effects, byway travelers and those accessing the Castle Trail parking lot in Delaware City]
Delaware City — The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that starting Friday, January 6, 2023, through Monday, March 20, 2023, Route 9 (DBB) will be closed from Polktown Road to Reedy Point Road. This section of Route 9 includes the Reedy Point Bridge over the C&D Canal. This will be a 24/7 closure for construction of a new roundabout, which will serve as the access to the Fort DuPont development.
The detour for northbound traffic is Port Penn Road to Pole Bridge Road to US 13 to Cox Neck Road to Clinton Street.
The detour for southbound traffic is Clinton Street to Cox Neck Road to US 13 to Pole Bridge Road to Port Penn Road. Access to and from the north (Delaware City area) to the Fort DuPont development will be maintained during construction. Please use caution in the area.
